Ahrar Al-Raqa Brigade Commander Denies Defection From SDF

Sky News Arabia reported Ahrar al-Raqa brigade defected from SDF and took control of six villages in Raqa countryside after fighting with Kurdish militants.

Sky News reported unnamed activists that “the Ahrar al-Raqa brigade captured 15 YPG members and seized heavy weapons and ammunition.
 

Farhan al-Askar, commander of the Ahrar al-Raqa brigade denied in a video recording any fighting against SDF. He stressed that Ahrar al-Raqa brigade is “part of SDF.” Al-Askar also denied any connections to Tahrir brigade which had defected and joined FSA groups in Jarablus.

Several media platforms had reported Tahrir brigade’s defection from SDF and joining Euphrates Shield operation in Jarablus two days earlier.
