In July, Verify-SY team monitored 10 misleading articles, pictures and video recordings published by the media or widely circulated in social media sites, as well as articles posted on foreign and Arab websites,
1- Amid the military escalation in Daraa between opposition groups against Assad regime forces backed by Russian warplanes and in addition to the intense bombardment on civilian areas, many false videos and photos have been published on social media as from Daraa province.
2- Russia Today news channel published today on its official Arabic Twitter account several tweets citing “military sources” that Assad regime will launch an attack against ISIS in Tafas town in Daraa western countryside.
3- Turkish news channel NTV published a video report titled “a group of Syrian men attacked a pharmacy in Mersin” and said that a number of Syrians attacked with stones and wooden bats a pharmacy in Mersin south Turkey.
The channel shared a video of an attack against a pharmacy and claimed that the Syrian attacked the pharmacy when they didn’t find the medicine they wanted and they injured 4 pharmacy’s staff who were hospitalized.
4- Jordanian websites and social media news pages shared a video showing explosion of incendiary bombs in the sky before hitting residential areas.
Video’s publishers said it is new and from Daraa province in reference to shelling on towns and cities in Daraa province by Assad regime and Russian warplanes.
5- Social media news pages and personal accounts shared a video showing Syrian refugees gathering near Jordanian border while who is filming the video is saying that Jordanian border guards shot at refugees and filmed a civilian man with his face covered in blood.
6- Social media news pages and personal accounts shared news claiming Free Police in Heritan city in Aleppo countryside arrested a HTS commander for lewd behavior.
They claimed that the Emir of traning camps of Hayyet Tahrir al-Sham HTS called Abu Qatada was caught while sexually assaulting a kid in Hayyan city.
7- Social media news pages and personal accounts shared a photo of the grave of Syrian kid “Hamza al-Khateeb” who was killed under torture by Assad regime in 2011, the photo shows the grave damaged.
8- Assad regime news agency SANA shared news saying “Israeli escalation against Gaza Strip” with a photo of civilian observing explosions from rooftops.
9- Social media news pages and personal accounts shared a photo of a racist cartoon against French footballers and said it is by French satirical magazine.
The cartoon showing monkeys wearing the French team blue uniform and holding a cup shaped like banana while a monkey asking if this is a banana while the other replying if this is an orange.
10- Social media news pages and personal accounts shared a video showing several armed men assaulting a civilian.
Video’s publishers said it shows the torture of armed rebels who reconciled with Assad regime in Daraa after Russian guarantee.
