Social media profiles and pages reported that a car bombing hit midtown Istanbul, claiming that the explosion resulted in deaths and injuries.

Pro-Syrian Democratic Forces (SDP) pages have claimed that “a car bombing killed 10 civilians and injured 50 others.”

Other pages have claimed that the AlArabiya AlHadath channel reported that a car bombing in downtown Istanbul resulted in “10 deaths and over 50 injuries.”

Another page called “Tafaseel al-Riyadh” posted footage saying that it shows “a massive blast hit the Sultan Ahmed district in midtown Istanbul”

Verify-Sy platform inspected the news and found that it is not correct, because there was no recent blasts in midtown Istanbul, and the Turkish authorities have not reported any such incident over the past few days.

In addition, AlArabiya and AlArabiya AlHadath have not reported any such incident during the past few days.

The circulated video dates back to September 18; it shows an explosion at a chemical plant in the Asian side of Istanbul.

On November 13, two massive blasts at an ammunition depot in Turkey’s Sanliurfa injured one civilian and 16 military personnel, according to the mayor of the city. The cause of the explosion is still unknown.
